Andrea Carta


Andrea Carta graduated in law at the University of Genoa in 1999 and obtained an LLM at the College of Europe in Bruges in 2003. Andrea has been admitted to the Italian bar in 2002, after a two-year traineeship in a law firm based in Genoa and specializing in International and European Law.

Between 2000 and 2001 Andrea worked as an independent advisor for an Italian Port Authority, where he dealt with competition issues related to port services and the operation of port infrastructures, gaining a significant experience in EC Transport Law. He also collaborated with the Law Faculty of the University of Udine and a private consortium of transport undertakings in the organization of the “E.T.L. Master Course on European Transport Law”.

From 2003 to 2007, Andrea worked as an associate in an independent law firm in Brussels, specializing in EC and International law, where he developed a thorough knowledge of EC Competition and Internal Market Law and gained a significant experience on the functioning of the EU Institutions.

Since 2004, Andrea acts as a Brussels Representative of the Italian Bar Council before the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). He is also member of the CCBE Committees on Competition, Free Movement of Lawyers, Services and Multi Jurisdictional Law Firms.

Besides dealing with general EC Competition and Internal Market issues, Andrea regularly works in several areas of EC Law, including transport, public procurement, audiovisual and cultural policy, IPRs and regulation of plant protection products.
