We Care

FratiniVergano believes in giving back to the community and it does so at individual and collective level.  Programs are being implemented and sponsored in the areas of education, environment and social support as part of our social responsibility policy.  A minimum yearly contribution equaling 1% of the combined gross salary of all lawyers at the firm is donated to the following charitable initiatives through the selected partners indicated below.

Education

As a strong believer in the power of education to change the world, FratiniVergano has partnered with Room to Read© in order to help children, particularly girls, in the developing world gain the lifelong gift of education.  The stated mission of Room to Read© is to “partner with local communities throughout the developing world to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children’s literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls. Room to Read© seeks to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries and future generations. Through the opportunities that only education can provide, Room to Read© strives to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time”.  FratiniVergano shares this objective and approach and, for this reason, has partnered with Room to Read©.

In particular, we have decided to concentrate our resources to sponsor the Girls’ Education Program, through which Room to Read© provides long-term scholarships to girls so that they have the opportunity to go to school.  In light of FratiniVergano’s long-standing professional relationship with Vietnam and deep affection for its people, we have decided to focus our resources by making the commitment with Room to Read© to fund, each year, ten years of a girl’s education in Vietnam all the way through the secondary level.

Environment

FratiniVergano cares about the environment and takes responsibility for the impact of its business on it. On a daily basis, we promote within our law firm the responsible use of the available resources. Being committed to sustainability, we sort and recycle our waste and save electricity (inter alia, using low-consumption bulbs) and paper (i.e., printing documents only when necessary, using the least possible amount of paper, and recycling used paper).

In addition, as of January 2008, we have decided to measure and offset the greenhouse gasses (GHG) emissions originated by the activities of our firm and its lawyers. Using a “carbon calculator” freely available on the Internet, we monitor FratiniVergano’s carbon footprint (particularly, GHG emissions deriving from business travelling, gas and electricity consumption) and calculate its value in EURO. At the end of each year, we will select a project aimed at protecting the environment and countering climate change and we will provide it with an amount of funds at least equal to the value of FratiniVergano’s carbon footprint.

Besides giving a direct contribution to the fight against climate change, we expect to raise awareness in our team and clients on the impact that the legal profession may have on the environment and to promote a more sustainable approach to each one’s day to day business.

Social Support

FratiniVergano has decided to support the activities of the “Fondation contre le Cancer” in its fight against this terrible illness.  The stated mission of this organization is threefold: 1) to increase patients’ survival chances; 2) to improve the quality of life of patients; and 3) to support prevention campaigns.

In particular, we have decided to concentrate our resources by focusing on the second objective.  We support the “Fondation contre le Cancer” in a number of daily practical activities aimed at assisting patients and their families, particularly the less privileged ones, to afford treatments, counseling, medical attention and logistical needs.
