Ignacio Carreño publishes article on energy drinks and stricter health warnings on caffeine content in the EU

The article Energy Drinks: Stricter Health Warnings on Caffeine Content in the EU and Sales Bans to Minors and New Excise Taxes, published in Issue 4/2014 of the European Journal of Risk Regulation, discusses Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, which, inter alia, provides for stricter health warnings in relation to the caffeine content in energy drinks. The article discusses how health warnings for caffeine content have evolved over time. The article also addresses more restrictive measures in individual EU Member States: Lithuania introduced a ban on the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to minors, while France adopted a new excise tax on energy drinks.
