Paolo R. Vergano teaches at the Summer Food Academy in Bilbao, Spain.
On 22 July 2015, Paolo lectures at the Summer Food Academy in Bilbao with a presentation on ‘Taxing and Marketing Restrictions of Unhealthy Foods’. The presentation will address industrially-produced trans fats (TFAs), which are widely considered as unhealthy, and the recent call to ban them at the EU level when only three EU Member States (i.e., Austria, Denmark and Hungary) have adopted legislation to restrict industrially-produced TFAs in the food chain. His presentation will also address different ‘sin taxes’ for a number of specific food products (and whether taxes are a useful tool to achieve the policy objectives) and labelling rules (such as those for partly-hydrogenated foods = trans fats). This marks the second year that FratiniVergano sponsors the Summer Food Academy. A PDF copy of the final programme is available for download below.
