Ignacio Carreño publishes Article on Ukraine’s new Food Law
Together with Anna Gladshtein, Ignacio Carreño published the article “Ukraine adopts new food safety legislation in order to align its legal framework with that of the EU” in Issue 1/2015 of the European Journal of Risk Regulation (EJRR), 2015. The article discusses the close relationship between the new food legislation of Ukraine and the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. It conducts comparative analyses with the corresponding EU legislations regarding, inter alia, the definition of food, pre-market approval and/or registration, food labelling, and specific requirements on GM foods. The article concludes that Ukraine’s food legislation is gradually approximating its legislative framework in the field to the one of the EU, and business operators are recommended to seek expert advice regarding the approval and/or registration procedures and the labelling requirements of certain products.
